- Word processing, email, simple graphics: 1GB
- Advanced graphics and gaming, photo editing: 2GB
- Multimedia editing, 3-D modeling: 2GB+
Memory is so cheap these days, I’d just fill the thing up, and be done with it. For an example, let’s use the iMac. A memory upgrade for the iMac costs as little as $30 for a 2 gb memory chip. So, add 4gb of memory for just $60, and you have a machine that just works. It’s a cheaper upgrade than an antivirus program for a windows machine.Â
